Annie's Girls
Annie Girl Doll, Bessie
Bessie shows off her salt & pepper curly hair while she wears wildly geometric patterned dress and turban. She carries a bright lime shawl and a basket of orange fruit and green leaves. Her outfit is accented with a lime and gold beaded necklace and shell brooch. Measures 14 inches tall.
Michele Sapp is the artist who creates these wonderful dolls called, "Annie's Girls". Michele's Grandmother, Annie, was a very independent, proud and spirited African-American woman who never forgot her humble beginnings. She was blessed with a loving family, wealth of talent and the amazing gift of "creating something from nothing". She saw beauty in the most common of objects. These One-Of-A-Kind Dolls are a tribute to her unique gifts and vision. It is Michele's hope that they embody the regal beauty and enduring spirit of not only her grandmother, but that of all women as well. Michele Sapp's work can also be seen at the Detroit Institute of Art Gift Shop.
